Lombok International Airport

TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The management of PT Angkasa Pura I, which operates West Nusa Tenggara’s Lombok Zainuddin Abdul Madjid international airport, has assured that the airport will run normally despite the ban on Eid homecoming, locally known as ‘mudik’.

During the Eid homecoming ban from May 6 to May 17, 2021, the airport will continue to operate, but will only allow special flights, stakeholder relations manager at the Lombok airport, Arif Haryanto, informed.

“Special flights are the flights intended for higher institution leaders and state guests, repatriation, and those in relation with law enforcement, orders, emergency services, and cargo transport,” Haryanto said when contacted over mobile phone here on Tuesday.

Although Lombok airport will continue to operate, commercial and non-commercial flight operations, both domestic and international, will be suspended during the Eid homecoming ban, he informed.

“The point is we, as an airport operator, have always supported the government policy aimed at controlling COVID-19 spread,” he remarked.

Haryanto, however, did not provide details on the number of flights that would be suspended during the Eid homecoming ban, saying airlines have not confirmed whether they would fully suspend flights or partially operate special flights.

“It cannot be assured yet since the airlines have not confirmed either to fully suspend the flights or to partially operate for special flights. The average number of passengers departing and arriving at the Lombok airport is around 3,000 people per day, with 32 aircraft movements per day,” he informed.
