TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Home Affairs Minister Tito Karnavian issued an instruction for regional heads to disseminate the ban on 2021 Eid homecoming in their area. Regional heads are also asked to impose sanctions on people who violate the provision or insist to go despite the prohibition.
Based on Ministerial Instruction No. 09 of 2021 signed on April 19, 2021, the sanctions are in accordance with the prevailing regulations.
It is also noted that people who travel across provinces/regencies/cities without having certain travel documents as ruled by the government during Ramadan and ahead of Eid al-Fitr holidays are required to undergo self-quarantine for 5x24 hours in places set by the regional heads under strict health protocols. The quarantine cost will be charged to violators.
People willing to travel across provinces/regencies/cities are also mandated to present a certain permit or travel document with their identity issued by the regional heads.
“Transportation Agencies and Public Order Agencies (Satpol PP) are asked to strengthen, control, and monitor people having a trip at checkpoint posts in their respective regions along with the Indonesian Military (TNI) and the National Police (Polri) during Ramadan and ahead of Eid al-Fitr,” as quoted from Minister Tito Karnavian’s instruction on the Eid homecoming ban.
