TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - State-electricity firm PLN has mobilized personnel to the three most affected regions by Cyclone Seroja which are West Nusa Tenggara (NTB), Maluku, and South Sulawesi to help recover the electricity in the regions.

“There are at least 50 personnel we mobilized from outside of NTT (East Nusa Tenggara) and they are expected to arrive on Wednesday to recover the electricity there,” said NTT PLN General Manager Agustinus Jatmiko to journalists in Kupang on April 6.

NTT and the areas in its vicinity were left in ruins after the tropical cyclone passed the province on April 3-4. It caused major storms, flash floods and landslides.

Agustinus said the cyclone had heavily damaged numerous PLN electricity infrastructures in Indonesia’s eastern regions such as in the islands of Adonara, Sumba, Sabu Raijua, Rote Ndao, and Timor.

PLN expects a total electricity recovery within one month but will add the number of personnel in a 24-hour shift to speed-up the process.
