TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Bali’s Denpasar Resort Police imposed fines of Rp1 million on six foreign nationals for violating the health protocols on Wednesday, March 24, 2021.

“We are carrying out the joint Yustisi Operation because lately, there were viral issues about domestic and foreign tourists breaking the health protocols creating a stigma that officers feared of taking action against foreigners,” said Denpasar Police’s head of the operation Comr. I Gede Ganefo in a press release received by Antara on Wednesday, March 24.

Gede said the joint operation with related institutions which is in line with the Kontijensi Aman Nusa Agung 2021 operation has caught 18 people breaking the health policy.

He outlined that six foreign nationals and one Indonesian citizen received a written reprimand, six foreigners were fined Rp1 million, and four Indonesians were fined Rp100,000 for not wearing face masks, another Indonesian was penalized by making a written statement on the spot.

Gede said that the police carried out a stringent yet humane measure. The joint operation was routinely launched by maintaining a polite, non-arrogant attitude, and without an illegal levy.

The Yustisi operation targets foreigners and Indonesians who do not comply with the predetermined health protocols against Covid-19, as well as business places that passed the allowed operational hours according to the Bali Governor’s Circular No. 06/2021.
