TEMPO.CO, Jakarta -AirAsia Indonesia CEO Veranita Yosephine Sinaga in Monday’s virtual discussion with Tempo said she was unable to guarantee when international flights would be reopened again. She asserted it would heavily depend on the government's restriction imposed on international visitors that sought to curb the spread of COVID-19.
“In the third and fourth quarter we will observe substantial improvement from the international recovery,” said Veranita in the discussion on March 8.
She hoped the ongoing national vaccination would better the situation as AirAsia had prepared a number of scenarios regarding the reintroduction of international flights.
“Last week, the AirAsia team received our vaccine shots that made us observe a slowly increasing confidence level related to the industry’s recovery and when we will be able to see the aviation sector recover, especially international flights,” said Yosephine.
Moreover, she announced the air carrier’s strategy in 2021 would mainly involve cargo flights, charters, and the development of an in-house super app.
