Floods inundate Tanah Abang Station, Jakarta, Wednesday January 1, 2020. Floods have occurred in almost the Jabodetabek area due to rain falling from Tuesday night until this morning. Floods paralyzed the activities of some Jakarta residents to start 2020. Even a number of train trips in the PT KAI Daop 1 Jakarta area experienced disruption. TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The train tracks between Kedunggedeh Station and Lemahabang Station in Bekasi are still ceased from operating after being submerged in floods since Sunday, February 21. PT KAI, the national railway company, has decided to cancel all long-distance train rides from Jakarta, as well as local trains on affected lines.

"The tracks are still not safe for trains to pass," PT KAI's VP of public relations Joni Martinus said on Monday, February 22.

Joni said that KAI officers are still repairing tracks foundations that were eroded by the flood. The company is unable to provide an estimate of when the repair will be completed and when operations would resume.

Joni said that there are 42 long-distance train and local trains canceled. Passengers whose trips are canceled will be contacted by the company and get full refunds.

"Cancellations can be made at all long-distance or local train ticket sales centers, for up to 30 days after the departure date," Joni said.
