TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - State-owned railway operator PT KAI Operational Region (Daop) 1 Jakarta announced the cancellation of several long-distance train trips today, February 22, due to Java floods affecting the rail tracks.

“In consideration of safety, rail tracks affected by the flood cannot yet be passed for train travel so on Monday, February 22, all long-distance train trips from Gambir Station and Pasar Senen Station are canceled again,” said Head of Public Relations of PT KAI Daop 1 Jakarta, Eva Chairunisa, on Monday.

Extreme weather in several areas resulted in floods that inundated the road section between Kedunggedeh Station and Lemah Abang from KM55+100 to KM53+ 600 since Sunday with water levels up to 150 centimeters above the railhead. Besides, the stone ballast used in railways was eroded by floodwater.

PT KAI Daop 1 Jakarta apologized to all train service users following the disturbance, Eva said. Until now, the team was striving to repair the infrastructure that was affected by the floods in collaboration with various parties.

In total, 15 train trips were canceled from the Daop 1 Jakarta area; 7 trips from Pasar Senen Station and 8 trips from Gambir Station.

In addition to the cancellation of long-distance train trips, all local train trips in the Cikarang-Purwakarta route operating across the rail track were also canceled because of the flood.
