TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The House of Representatives (DPR)'s Commission V announced it would summon the Transportation Minister and air carrier Sriwijaya Air in the first week of February. DPR says this was related to the crash of Sriwijaya’s flight SJ182 that tragically killed 62 onboard.

“[The summons] is planned to be held on February 3. We expect that the cockpit voice recorder (CVR) will have been found at that time,” said House Commission V speaker Lasarus to Tempo on January 25.

Lasarus said the House would also call-in stakeholders that had given public statements regarding the fallen aircraft, which consisted of the National Transportation Safety Committee (NTSC), national search and rescue Basarnas, the Meteorology, Climatology and Geophysics Agency (BMKG), and AirNav Indonesia.

Sriwijaya Air flight SJ182 carried 50 passengers and 12 crew members on January 9, 2021. The national search effort eventually recovered one of the plane’s black boxes or flight data recorder (FDR) several days into the search.

Despite officially calling an end to the search for the victims, the government continued its search for the missing memory card of the aircraft’s cockpit voice recorder (CVR), which was partially recovered. The NTSC will have 30 days to complete its initial investigation report.
