Aceh Police Detain Illegal Logger in Mount Leuser National Park Area

TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Subulussalam Police detained ST (45), a resident of Natam Village, Badar Sub-district, Southeast Aceh District, Aceh Province, for illegal logging activities in protected forest area inside Mount Leuser National Park (TNGL) .

The police found wood suspected of having been logged illegally from TNGL in Lae Mate Village, Runding Sub-district, Subulussalam City, Aceh on Thursday (21/1).

"We have arrested the perpetrator for allegedly committing illegal logging activities as he controlled or possessed timber forest product not equipped with legal documents," Head of Subulussalam Aceh City Adjunct Senior Commissioner Qori Wicaksono told Antara on Sundya.

The police seized a number of pieces of evidence, including a wooden boat, hundreds of pieces of woods .

The legal enforcers made the arrest following a tip off from the public regarding illegal logging activities in the national park.
