TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The Jakarta government said that as of January 17, 2021 the load factors of isolation beds and Intensive Care Unit (ICU) at Covid-19 hospitals are almost at full capacity. Of the 8,890 isolation beds and ICUs available, 87 percent are occupied.

"There is only 13 percent left to take in Covid-19 patients, both those from Jakarta and outside Jakarta," a post on the provincial government's official Instagram account, @dkijakarta, stated today, 19 January.

The post also stated that 24 percent of patients in Jakarta Covid-19 referral hospitals are from outside the capital city, including residents of Bogor, Tangerang, Depok, dan Bekasi.

Previously, the Jakarta Health Office stated that the provincial government is targeting to add four Covid-19 referral hospitals, given the increasing number of infections in the capital.

On Monday, January 18, Jakarta recorded 2,362 new cases, bringing the city's total caseload to 204,711 with 21,200 active cases.
