Occupancy Rate at Jakarta Covid-19 Referral Hospitals Nearing Limit

19 January 2021 09:14 WIB

TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The Jakarta Health Agency had reported that the occupancy rate for Intensive Care Unit (ICU) beds in 101 Covid-19 referral hospitals has reached a critical 85 percent.

The agency’s head of disease prevention and control Dwi Oktavia made it clear that this means 849 hospital rooms out of 995 available in the capital city are now filled, which is based on the last data collected on January 10, 2021.

A similar situation is also taking place in referral hospitals that offer isolation facilities which she explains is 86 percent occupied. Out of 7,548 isolation bunks available 6,501 are accommodating patients undergoing isolation.

The Jakarta Health Agency assures that both isolation rooms and ICU facilities in referral hospitals as of January 10 will constantly be added to accommodate the rising number of confirmed cases in the city. They also plan to add four more Covid-19 referral hospitals due to the critical situation.
