TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - President Joko "Jokowi" Widodo will officially be the first recipient of the Covid-19 vaccine on Wednesday, January 13. It is in line with the initial schedule as the Food and Drugs Monitoring Agency (BPOM) has granted the emergency use authorization yesterday.

The presidential secretariat’s spokesperson Bey Machmudin on Tuesday, Monday, 11, confirmed that the President will receive the inaugural vaccine shot. "The Presidential Secretariat is preparing and coordinating with the Health Ministry on the vaccination procedure."

President Jokowi's vaccination, according to Bey, is scheduled to be live-broadcasted across internet platforms with details to be revealed later in the day.

The Covid-19 vaccine will be the one from Chinese biopharmaceutical firm Sinovac Biotech that had gone through a meticulous 3-month clinical trial in Bandung, West Java. The vaccine has also obtained halal certification from the Indonesian Ulema Council (MUI).
