TEMPO.CO , Jakarta - Food and Drugs Monitoring Agency (BPOM) chairperson Penny Lukito announced on Monday the emergency use authorization (EUA) had been issued for the COVID-19 vaccine produced by Sinovac that the government planned to use in the nationwide vaccination drive.
“On Monday, January 11, the BPOM approved the emergency use authorization for the COVID-19 vaccine produced by Sinovac that worked alongside Bio Farma,” said Penny Lukito in the press conference.
The Sinovac vaccine has been also approved by the Indonesian Ulema Council (MUI) recently, meaning that Indonesia’s phase 1 of the nationwide vaccination progam can start as initially scheduled on Wednesday, January 13, 2021.
