TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - West Java Governor Ridwan Kamil issued a Gubernatorial Decree mandating 20 regencies or cities to apply Proportional Large-Scale Social Restrictions or Proportional PSBB. The policy would run simultaneously with the implementation of the restrictions of community activities (PPKM) in Java-Bali beginning January 11, 2021.

Ridwan also released another decree allowing the rest of seven regions in the province to enforce the Adaptation to New Habits (AKB).

“Proportional PSBB and AKB must be abided by the people. The public must consistently implement health protocols to prevent Covid-19 transmission,” said the province's Covid-19 handling task force chairman, Daud Achmad, in a press release on Sunday, January 10, 2021.

The two decrees were inked on January 8, 2021, and would take effect on January 11-25, 2021. The 20 regions implementing the Proportional PSBB are regencies of Sukabumi, Sumedang, Cirebon, Garut, Karawang, Kuningan, Ciamis, Bandung, West Bandung, Majalengka, Bekasi, Subang, Bogor, as well as cities of Depok, Tasikmalaya, Banjar, Bandung, Bogor, Bekasi, and Cimahi.

They were also required to carry out the Home Affairs Ministerial Instruction No. 1/2021 on the enforcement of community activities restriction to control Covid-19 spread.

The rest seven regions, viz. Cirebon City, Sukabumi City, Indramayu Regency, Purwakarta Regency, Cianjur Regency, Tasikmalaya Regency, and Pangandaran Regency, were mandated to apply AKB policy.
