Online Ojek, Taxi Permitted to Operate During Jakarta Strict PSBB

TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Jakarta Governor Anies Baswedan allows the operation of motorcycle taxis known as ojek; online-based or conventional ones, during the enforcement of a more stringent social restriction or PSBB on January 11-25.
“[Ojek are] allows to transport people and [they] must implement Covid-19 prevention measures,” said Article 24 Paragraph 3 of Governor Regulation Number 3/2021.
The regulation also says to not gather or create a crowd of more than 5 people, and the drivers must maintain the distance of their vehicle of at least one meter.
Online ojek app companies must use geofencing technology in order to avoid the drivers to cause crowds. The companies also have to impose sanctions on the drivers who violate the regulations.
As for the online taxi, the capacity is limited to 50 percent; one row can only be filled with two people. Violators will be imposed with a fine of Rp50 million. If the violation is repeated, the operational permit will be temporarily deactivated or may be revoked.
