TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Coordinating Minister for Economic Affairs Airlangga Hartarto assures that the government will not stop long-distance public transportation amidst the PSBB, or large-scale social restriction, set in motion on January 11 throughout Bali and Java Islands.

However, Airlangga made it clear that the government urges people not to travel amidst this social restriction and calls against excessive public mobility.

"Just stay home if traveling is not necessary as places will also be closed," said Minister Airlangga at Thursday’s virtual press conference, Jan. 7. "Only conduct essential travels."

The government has limited mobility by imposing long-distance public transportation to 70 percent capacity. In addition, as set in the previous Christmas and New Year’s holidays, people who use long-distance public transportation must bring official copies of reports noting that they are free of Covid-19.

Java Island and Bali start the large-scale social restriction (PSBB) from January 11 to 25.
