TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - A joint investigation team is currently digging into the finding of what is believed to be rocket debris at Kimau, Central Kalimantan, which had been reported to allegedly be from a China National Space Administration (CNSA) rocket that had fallen into Indonesian territory.

Central Kalimantan police spokesperson Grand Commissioner Hendra Rochmawan on Wednesday said that police had been gathering info on the possible source of the wreckage and initially believed that it might have come from a rocket launched by the CNSA in April 2020 that had fallen into the Java Sea.

Police believe that the debris was swept by the ocean current and eventually beached at the Sei Sabang Village, West Kotawaringin. However, police say that this will be concluded by the National Transportation Safety Committee (KNKT) due to arrive and investigate the location on Wednesday.

“Based on the field investigation some of the debris have the CNSA logo. This Chinese institution is responsible for its space programs,” said the police spokesperson.
