TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The National Commission on Human Rights (Komnas HAM) on Thursday announced that they had inspected the pieces of evidence in the case involving the shooting of 6 Islam Defenders Front (FPI) members who did not survive the ordeal.

The human rights watchdog’s investigation leader, Choirul Anam, said the inspection was done as they asked for statements from the Indonesian National Police criminal investigation unit (Bareskrim) which lasted around six hours.

“The questioning was done to obtain statements related to the implemented procedures, methods, and substances from the pieces of evidence,” Chaorul Anam explained in a statement on December 24.

Komnas HAM also plans on questioning the police personnel involved in the shootings and will also conduct deeper questioning towards FPI members. This comes after the commission inspected the car that police used in the deadly encounter with FPI members at the Cikampek toll road.
