TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Spokesperson for the Covid-19 mitigation team, Wiku Adisasmito, on Wednesday said the free vaccines that would be provided by the government will still put forth those in the government’s priority groups.

“In principle, we will continue to prioritize those groups at risk and under the minimum vaccine recipient quantity to reach herd immunity,” said Wiku to Tempo on December 16. He explains that technical rules regarding free vaccination are being finalized.

Earlier today, President Jokowi announced that the government will make the country’s nationwide Covid-19 vaccinations free of charge.

According to his statement, this decision was made after receiving crucial input from the public and recalculating the country’s state budget.

“I now announce that the Covid-19 vaccination will be free of charge,” said the seventh Indonesian president on December 16. “Once again, it will be completely free of charge.”
