TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Garuda Indonesia President Irfan Setiaputra on Tuesday said that the state-air carrier will require its passengers destined for Bali to pass COVID-19 swab tests. It is in line with the government’s recent policy for tourists entering Bali.
“As [flight] operators, we will abide by the rules set by regulators,” said Irfan in Garuda Indonesia Public Expose on December 15. He also notes that as a state-firm, they do not wish to exploit the policy.
He said that Garuda will continue to support the government’s attempt in suppressing the spread of COVID-19 which will help kickstart the national economic recovery processes.
Garuda Indonesia, Irfan went on, is waiting for further technical instructions from the Transportation Ministry regarding the implementation of the policy.
The Bali government has officially issued the Circular No.46/2020 overseeing domestic aircraft passengers heading to Bali to be equipped with a report on their negative COVID-19 swab test results. It will apply during the Christmas and New Year’s holidays from December 18, 2020, to January 4, 2021.
