Densus 88 Arrests Bali Bombing Suspect in Lampung

TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The police special detachment team of anti-terrorism or Densus 88 arrested alleged terrorist suspect Zulkarnaen (57) in Lampung.

The authorities caught the man with the alias Aris Sumarsono, or Daud or Zaenal Arifin or Abdulrahman, in Purbolinggo, East Lampung Regency.

“Arrest without resistance,” said the Police Chief of Public Relations Divison, Insp. Gen. Raden Prabowo Argo Yuwono to Tempo, Saturday, December 12. Zulkarnaen was a fugitive in the first Bali Bombing case.

Argo said the alleged terrorist that is originated from Sragen, Central Java, went to the Biology Faculty of a campus in Yogyakarta for four semesters in 1982.

Zulkarnaen allegedly hid Upik Lawangan alias Taufik Bulaga alias Udin. Upik was arrested by Densus 88 in Central Lampung Regency on November 23, 2020.

The police said Zulkarnaen set a ‘special training’ to make bombs and that he was involved in conflicts in Poso and Ambon.
