TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Metro Jaya Police spokesman Sr. Comr. Yusri Yunus announced the police would not summon Rizieq Shihab again and will rather immediately arrest the leader of the Islam Defenders Front (FPI).

“We explained it yesterday, MRS (Rizieq Shihab) did not meet his first summons. I made sure that there will be no more summonses issued and the Metro Jaya Police will make an arrest on Rizieq,” said Yusri Yunus on Friday, December 12.

However, Yusri stopped short of revealing the schedule of Rizieq Shihab’s arrest.

Separately, Rizieq’s lawyer Aziz Yanuar said there was something strange in the suspect-naming of his client. He argued that prior to being named a suspect, Rizieq had never been questioned by the police regarding the Petamburan crowd-pulling case.

“It’s strange since the beginning as there was no investigation but [Rizieq Shihab] was suddenly named a suspect,” said Yanuar.
