TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Metro Jaya Police chief Inspector General Mohammad Fadli Imran on Friday said that police will not stop their efforts in eradicating the mass-organization members that act like thugs.

“I must act firmly against these types [of organizations]. There will be no reverse gear and we must resolve this,” said Fadli at the Metro Jaya Police headquarters on Friday, December 11.

The police chief did not specifically mention the mass-organization he is referring. However, he did pledge to downright resolve the case that involves the Islam Defenders Front (FPI) and the events with large crowds they generated during the pandemic.

“It is the task of the police chief to guarantee public and social order,” said the police chief.

Previously reported, the Metro Jaya Police spokesperson Sr. Comm. Yusri Yunus announced the suspect-naming of FPI leader Rizieq Shihab and five other FPI members who were involved in the Petamburan crowd, which violated the city’s COVID-19 health protocols.
