Moeldoko Says Covid-19 Test Result of Public Figures Need to be Announced

TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Presidential Chief of Staff Moeldoko said it is necessary to announce the result of public figures’ Covid-19 test for tracing purposes. Thus he called on figures to be transparent about their health status for the sake of the public interest.
“There is a situation where someone is in an environment that must be watched for and must be a common concern, so it needs to be declared for tracing,” said Moeldoko at Bina Graha building, Central Jakarta, Tuesday, Dec. 1.
He appreciated Jakarta Governor Anies Baswedan and NU chairman Said Aqil Siradj who recently announced that they contracted the coronavirus disease. This kind of mentality, Moeldoko added, showed a high sense of responsibility that should be taken by all figures.
“When there is no moral responsibility, people who are clearly tested positive [for the disease] and are reckless and still communicating with others, they will bring risk to others. By means, the people do not have a social responsibility,” Moeldoko underlined.
Moeldoko further mentioned an example that in the Advanced Indonesia Cabinet, the ministers took the Covid-19 swab test almost every week. If the result comes back positive, the tracing will be carried out immediately.
