Bandung Hospital Adds Bed Capacity as Covid-19 Patients Hike

TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The management of dr. Hasan Sadikin Hospital in Bandung added the bed capacity as the number of COVID-19 patients has been recently increasing and occupied 93 percent of the capacity.

“By the addition, the occupancy rate is 87 percent,” said Muhammad Kamaruzzaman, the Bandung hospital director of planning, organization, and general. Until Friday, November 20, the number of Covid-19 patients with moderate to severe category admitted to dr. Hasan Sadikin Hospital was 116 people.

The total capacity is 124 patients. “We’ve added beds at Kemuning Building, so the total is [now] 132,” he said Friday, Nov. 20.

Besides, the hospital also increased the number of High Care Unit facility for Covid-19 patients to 11 rooms at the special infection isolation room of Kemuning Building.

As per Thursday, Nov. 19, based on Hasan Sadikin Hospital data, there were 105 Covid patients, 35 suspects, and 71 people confirmed to be positive. From the total case at the hospital, there are 403 patients who are confirmed to be positive for Covid-19, and 58 patients have succumbed to the disease.

Kamaruzzaman said the surge of patients at Hasan Sadikin Hospital has been occurring since last week, post the long weekend at the end of October 2020. That was the first time happened in the hospital since the pandemic broke in March.

Bandung's dr. Hasan Sadikin Hospital serves Covid-19 patients with severe conditions. Those who are asymptomatic or show light symptoms will be diverted to other hospitals.
