TEMPO.CO, Bandung - Hasan Sadikin Hospital (RSHS) in Bandung was mulling over the worst scenario that is closing public services and referring non-Covid-19 patients to other hospitals since the isolation rooms are almost full. In the past week, the city reported a surge in virus infections.
“Other than looking for new isolation rooms, the worst-case scenario is to close public services because the hospital will be focused on treating coronavirus disease patients,” said the hospital director M. Kamaruzzaman on Tuesday, November 18, 2020.
The hospital was coordinating with the virus mitigation task force and West Java Health Agency, requesting complete service medical facilities for intensive care.
Kamaruzzaman informed that 113 of the total 131 isolation rooms were occupied for patients with moderate to heavy symptoms of the coronavirus disease. Meanwhile, about a dozen patients are waiting in the emergency transit room.
“The hospital’s status has already been alert because the rooms are almost full,” he added.
Based on the latest data by the West Java Covid-19 mitigation task force on November 15, there was a surge in positive cases that increased the number of regions classified as the red zone with a high virus transmission, namely Bandung Regency, Tasikmalaya Regency, Purwakarta, Karawang, Bekasi Regency, Bekasi City, and Cimahi.
