TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - State-run railway company PT Kereta Api Indonesia (KAI) said today morning that as of 8 a.m. there were 113,341 passengers of commuter line service (KRL). The figure increased when compared to the number on last Monday, November 9, with 112,952 passengers.

“KAI continues to operate as many as 997 train trips per day with operational hours starting at 4 a.m. to 12 a.m.,” said KAI VP Corporate Communications, Anne Purba, in a written statement today, November 16.

According to her, despite the increase in the number of passengers at several stations, the situation in those stations remained under control. The officers maintained the queue to ensure a safe distance between commuters.

“KAI hopes commuters can manage their trips more flexibly and be aware of not getting into a train that has been packed with people based on the signs,” she said.

The health protocol and additional rules related to Covid-19 were still being applied in KRL. Senior citizens above 60 years old and people carrying goods that might disturb the implementation of physical distance are only allowed to board the train from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. or outside the rush hours. KAI also prohibited children under five years old from riding the Commuter Line.
