Jakarta COVID-19 Cases Rise by 587 Today

TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Jakarta provincial government recorded 587 new COVID-19 infections today, November 11, 2020. The Health Agency’s head of disease prevention and control unit, Dwi Oktavia, said the additional cases were obtained from the PCR test results of 9,148 specimens.

The agency conducted PCR tests on 7,501 people, and 587 of the results turned back positive, while the other 6,914 were negative.

The city’s total tally reached 114,343. Of the figure, 6,823 people are still being treated or undergoing isolation.

Today’s number of active cases, meanwhile, decreased by 398. As many as 2,403 patients succumbed to the disease, while 105,117 patients recovered. From the data, the death rate hit 2.1 percent and the recovery rate was 91.9 percent.

However, Jakarta’s positivity rate for the last week remained high at 8.5 percent. “While the cumulative percentage is 8.3 percent,” Dwi added.

The World Health Organization (WHO) standard of the COVID-19 positivity rate is no more than 5 percent.

Jakarta Governor Anies Baswedan had tightened the Large-Scale Social Restrictions or PSBB on September 14, 2020. Yet the policy was relaxed again from October 12 to date.
