TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The National Police urged the public who were joining yet another demonstration against the Job Creation Omnibus Law on Tuesday, October 20, 2020, to be aware of provocateurs.
“Stay alert of any people who want to incite riot such as burning public facilities that disturb public interest,” said the National Police Head of Public Relations Insp. Gen. Argo Yuwono in a written statement on Tuesday, October 20, 2020.
The police also appealed to the public to not be easily influenced by false news or hoaxes. Demonstrations are activities that are protected by the law, Argo added.
However, Argo reminded protesters that the police could impose legal sanctions if the demonstration ended in anarchic acts. Thus they were asked to comply with the regulations and hold a peaceful rally.
“The police appealed to all people who convey their aspirations to maintain the order, be peaceful, and obey the prevailing laws,” Argo asserted.
