TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The Transportation Ministry’s Greater Jakarta Transportation Agency (BPTJ) announced that public transportation in the greater Jakarta area will continue to operate under several restrictions despite the government implementing a slackened social restriction in the ‘transitional PSBB’ on October 12.
BPTJ chairperson Polana B. Pramesti said that the restrictions during the full-scale social restriction will be maintained amidst the current coronavirus-related social restriction.
“Public transportation will continue to accommodate people’s activities but limitations in capacity and controls on trip frequencies [continues to be applied],” said Polana in Tuesday’s press release.
The chairperson maintains that this is implemented to adhere to physical distancing protocols and limit services due to dropping demand for unnecessary travels and synchronize the need for public transportation with the government’s attempts to break the chain of coronavirus infection.
