TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The government and the House of Representatives (DPR) have reportedly finalized the discussion on Job Creation Bill and will soon take the first decision on the Omnibus bill.

“We’ll have a meeting tonight,” said DPR’s legislative body Supratman Andi Agtas at his office in Senayan, Jakarta, Saturday, Oct. 3.

He said the work meeting would be held at 9 p.m. But he also said that he did not know who were the government’s representatives that would attend the meeting.

Supratman said that the discussion on the working committee level was finalized and that the legislative body and the government will take the first level decision before finally pass the bill at the plenary meeting.

Today, the government and legislative body discussed the results of the discussion from the formulation team and the synchronization team. The meeting was done from 2 p.m. until around 7 p.m.

Based on Tempo’s observation, several issues were still being debated, such as the severance pay for layoffs. The government suggested the amount from 32 times the wage to 25 times the wage.

Several factions protested the change, yet the leader of the meeting, Supratman, did not mind the voices and settled the decision.

He did not elaborate on the detail about the reasons why they held the meeting on the weekend until late at night and even set the Omnibus Bill on Job Creation. Meanwhile, the House actually limits the number of the participants and the hours of the meeting only until 6 p.m.

“This is for the people, there’s nothing wrong with that,” Supratman said.
