TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The Jakarta Health Agency reported that the city’s positivity rate of Covid-19 for the past week slightly dropped from 13.2 percent to 12.2 percent. However, the figure was still above the recommended rate set by WHO of 5 percent.

As of Wednesday, September 9, 2020, the capital city recorded 1,026 new positive cases, pushing the total to 49,837 cases.

The agency’s head of disease prevention and control, Dwi Oktavia, said the additional cases were obtained from the testing results of 9,904 specimens on Tuesday, September 8. Of the total specimens, 7,923 people were tested.

At present, 11,245 are still being treated at hospitals or put under isolation. Of the total 49,837 cases, 37,245 patients have made recoveries, and 1,347 patients died.

In percentage, the city’s recovery rate was 74.7 percent, and the mortality rate was 2.7 percent as of Wednesday, September 9.

The Health Agency also announced that the positivity rate since the pandemic broke out was 7.0 percent, higher than the WHO recommendation.

Due to the high Covid-19 positivity rate, new daily cases that hit over a thousand, and the low occupancy rate of hospital beds for Covid-19 patients, Jakarta Governor Anies Baswedan decided to re-impose the large-scale social restriction (PSBB).
