TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The House of Representatives (DPR) was determined to limit activities following findings of Covid-19 positive cases among staffers. The legislators were still preparing the restriction rules.

“The regulation (restriction) is being drafted,” said the DPR Deputy Speaker Azis Syamsuddin to Tempo on Wednesday, September 9, 2020.

The House deputy speaker Sufmi Dasco Ahmad said the rule would be released on Friday, September 11. However, since Tuesday, his side had limited activities in the building.

Earlier, the DPR commissions held working meetings with the government, deliberating plans of budget and priority programs in 2021. Dasco claimed the number of participants physically attending the session was limited.

“We will create stricter Covid-19 health protocols. Expert staffers will be asked to work from home,” Dasco said via a video recording on Tuesday, September 8.

The DPR Commission II chairman Herman Herry confirmed two commission staffers contracted with Covid-19. So he suspended all meetings and activities for a week. All rooms were also sterilized and disinfected.

Herman was mulling over to change the format of the next meetings, too. “We are considering whether to hold next sessions virtual or tighter restrictions in offline sessions,” he told Tempo on Wednesday, September 9.
