TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - State-owned Enterprises Minister Erick Thohir said nearly half of the total state-owned companies have not obtained the ISO 37001 anti-bribery certificates. To date, only 53 percent of SOEs have the certificate.

"The ISO 37001 anti-bribery certificate is mandatory to SOEs. Today, only 53 percent have them, and I am not satisfied. I will continue to push for it to reach 100 percent," Erick said while attending the 2020 National Action for Corruption Prevention (ANPK) event. He uploaded a clip of the speech to his personal Instagram account on Wednesday, August 26.

The anti-bribery certificate adopts the ISO 37001 Anti-Bribery Management System, which has been implemented by international institutions. The ISO 37001 will help an organization maintain compliance with good corporate governance or GCG.

Erick Thohir said that since his early days as SOE Minister, he was ordered by President Joko Widodo to improve SOEs' performances.

Erick responded by transforming SOEs through a series of circulars and ministerial regulations. Some of them regulate SOEs and ministries to stop giving gifts at meetings.

In addition, project tenders that involve SOEs can no longer be held under a direct appointment scheme, unless the companies have the required expertise.
