TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Two police generals Insp. Gen. Napoleon Bonaparte and Brig. Gen. Prasetijo Utomo admitted they received money from graft convict Djoko Tjandra to remove the latter’s red notice status. The confession was made during an examination on Tuesday, August 25.

“We have conducted an investigation and they admitted to receiving money,” said the National Police spokesman Brig. Gen. Awi Setiyono in his office, South Jakarta, August 25.

Awi, however, stopped short of detailing the amount of the bribery, adding that it was the investigation material that could not be revealed yet.

“As noted in Article 17 of the KIP Law, there are things we cannot disclose, and that can be revealed in the court” Awi added.

In the case of the red notice status, the National Police’s Criminal Investigation Unit named four people as suspects. They are Insp. Gen. Napoleon Bonaparte and Brig. Gen. Prasetijo Utomo as the bribe recipients, helping the graft convict to freely travel to and within the country. The other two suspects are Tommy Sumardi and Djoko Tjandra as the bribers.
