TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The Jakarta provincial administration was mulling to install COVID-19 warning symbols in each subdistrict as the number of positive infections in the city keeps rising.

The Head of Gubernatorial and Foreign Affairs Bureau (KDH-KLN) Muhammad Mawardi said the study would be first reported to Governor Anies Baswedan. “The administration bureau will later submit a report to the governor or deputy governor,” said Mawardi on Tuesday, August 11.

The KDH Bureau had held a meeting with the Administration Bureau regarding the installment of the warning symbols related to COVID-19 on Monday, August 10, 2020. The session was attended by city level officials.

During the meeting, the KDH Bureau asked when the symbol was planned to be installed. However, the Administration Bureau still had to report the concept of the symbol to the authorities.

“The study is conducted by the administration bureau on the ideas and the reasons,” Mawardi added.

The number of new COVID-19 positive cases in the capital city continues to rise to more than 400 cases per day. The all-time daily hike was recorded at 721.

On August 11, the Jakarta Health Office reported an additional 471 positive infections. The figure pushed the total tally to 26,664. Of which, 16,927 patients were declared cured and 953 others died, meaning that the recovery date was 63.5 percent, while the COVID-19 mortality rate hit 3.6 percent.
