TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Jakarta Disaster Mitigation Agency (BPBD) has issued an early warning about potential heavy rain, strong winds, and tornadoes occurring on Tuesday, August 11, to Wednesday, August 12, 2020.

Early today through its official Twitter account, the agency called on regional officials to anticipate possible flood and landslide. They were asked to alert Public Facility Maintenance Agency (PPSU) officers or flood mitigation task force in each district.

Potential tornadoes in the capital city were reportedly caused by the moving of winds at different speeds and directions observed along Riau until the Malay Peninsula, West Lampung waters until the Mentawai Islands waters, and in East Indonesian regions such as Bone, North Halmahera until Papua and West Papua.

“Such conditions can bring potential forms of rain clouds in the converged areas,” the BPBD tweeted.

The Meteorology, Climatology, and Geophysics Agency (BMKG), meanwhile, issued today's weather report, noting that rain and strong winds would hit East Jakarta and South Jakarta, light rain would shower West Jakarta, while Central Jakarta, North Jakarta, and Thousand Islands would have partly cloudy and partly sunny weather.

The air temperature in Jakarta would range from 14 to 31 degrees Celsius, with the humidity level at around 65-95 percent.
