TEMPO.CO , Jakarta - Jakarta Governor Anies Baswedan announced on his social media post that Jakarta’s Indonesian Democracy Index (IDI) in 2019 had topped the overall ranking. It improved by 3.21 points compared to 2018 with 85.08.
“Thank goodness Jakarta has, for several times, been judged as Indonesia’s most democratic province,” Anies Baswedan wrote on Wednesday, August 5
The data is sourced from the Central Statistics Agency (BPS) on August 5 which suggests Jakarta’s improved score comes from the enhancements in the aspect of political rights.
Last year, Jakarta scored the IDI 2018 with 83.86 percent, which was deemed due to the increase of voters’ turnout.
“The freedom of religious beliefs had also increased and had scored a perfect score of 100,” Anis Baswedan wrote.
