TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Pertamina president commissioner Basuki “Ahok” Tjahaja Purnama in a video uploaded to Youtube on Sunday, warned officials and employees of the state-owned energy firm to not be involved in corruption.

Ahok’s warning comes after Pertamina signed a partnership notice with the corruption eradication commission (KPK) and the Financial Transaction Reports and Analysis Center (PPATK) which places Pertamina under their watchful eyes.

“Whoever commits corruption within Pertamina should be watchful. You may enjoy yourself but we will trace you with the help of the PPATK,” said Ahok in the video that was published on Sunday.

According to the former Jakarta governor, the anti-corruption agencies hone the right to obtain data from the SOEs which aligns with Ahok’s intention to remain transparent and make the firm a more open entity.

In an interview with Tempo Magazine in February this year, Ahok recalled that he was asked by President Joko “Jokowi” Widodo to closely monitor state-owned enterprises.

He then chose to be appointed at Pertamina where he now aims to reduce the firm’s dependence on oil and gas imports and to realize the goal to reestablish abandoned refineries.
