TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The South Jakarta Police’s narcotics unit has arrested four alleged illegal drug couriers of the Sumatera-Java network. The police confiscated marijuana and crystal meth weighing hundreds of kilograms from the suspects.

“There are two cases: the arrests of couriers with 160 kg of marijuana and 131 kg of crystal meth,” said Jakarta Metro Police Chief Insp. Gen. Nana Sudjana at the South Jakarta Police HQ on Monday, August 3.

The four couriers were apprehended based on case development in the field. Two of them were AP alias B and HG alias B, who were arrested in Cipulir, South Jakarta, with 131 kilograms of crystal meth on Thursday, July 30.

The two other suspects, HS and NK, were arrested in Bogor on July 17. The police also seized 160 kilograms of marijuana from them.

According to Nana, the four suspects sent illegal drugs by using product or cargo delivery services and camouflaged the illegal business from the authority.

The police are still hunting down the dealers, or the main suppliers of the illegal drug network operating in Sumatra and Java. The officers have reportedly obtained the key perpetrator of the 131-kg drug delivery, namely Santi a.k.a Selvi, who has been put on the police’s wanted list. “But we still pursue the main suspects,” Nana said.
