Eid al-Adha Holiday; Jasa Marga Records 345,000 Vehicles Left Jakarta

TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - State-run toll road operator Jasa Marga recorded as many as 345,575 vehicles left Jakarta on D-1 and Eid al-Adha Day, July 30-31, from three directions: East, West and South. The number increased by 27.5 compared to the traffic on regular days.

"Fifty-three percent of vehicles left Jakarta from the East, 23.94 percent from the West, and 23.05 percent from the South," said Jasa Marga corporate communication & community development group, Dwimawan Heru, in a written statement Saturday, August 1.

At East Jakarta's Cikampek Utama 1 toll gate, 97,541 vehicles headed to the Trans Java toll, a 58.1 percent increase from normal traffic. Meanwhile, at Kalihurip Utama toll gate, 85,663 vehicles left the city and headed to the Cipularang-Padeleunyi toll, an increase of 37.9 percent from regular days traffic.

"The total of vehicles leaving the city from the East is 183,204 vehicles, which is a 48 percent increase from normal days traffic," Dwimawan explained.

Meanwhile from the West, Jasa Marga recorded as many as 82,720 vehicles left through the Cikupa toll gate to Merak-Tangerang toll road or an increase of 0.8 percent from regular traffic. The vehicles that left the city from the South through Ciawi 1 toll gate reached 79,651 cars, increased 22.4 percent from normal traffic.

Jasa Marga predicted the peak of the returning traffic would be on Sunday, August 2.
