TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - As Jakarta enforces the transitional large-scale social restrictions or PSBB toward the new normal era, toll road operator Jasa Marga recorded a hike in traffic volume on its toll roads from June 5-30, 2020.
Jasa Marga corporate communications and community development group head, Dwimawan Heru, said the increase was attributable to people’s movement. The company previously saw a higher decline in daily traffic volume.
“So we can conclude that there is an increase,” said Heru in a written statement on Friday, July 3.
Despite the surge in traffic volume, the average daily traffic of toll roads under the management of Jasa Marga still dropped by 27.3 percent compared to that of the normal condition in February 2020.
After the implementation of the social restriction up to the transition period, the daily traffic on the company’s toll roads, viz. Jagorawi, Jakarta-Tangerang, and Jakarta-Cikampek slipped by 51.5 percent from that of February.
“Jasa Marga calls on people to stick to health protocols during their activities in this new normal era. This is in an effort to suppress the spread of COVID-19 so that the government does not have to impose massive restrictions again as before,” Dwimawan concluded.
