TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Jakarta Governor Anies Baswedan announced the city administration would beef up the monitoring on two areas during the extended period of the transitional PSBB or large-scale social restriction.

The two areas reportedly have the high potential to contribute to more positive Covid-19 cases in the city. They are traditional markets and Commuter Line or KRL.

“So we will focus on the two areas,” said Anies in an online press conference at the City Hall, Jakarta, July 1. The capital city had started the first phase of the transitional PSBB ahead of a new normal era since June 5, and that would end on July 2, 2020.

Anies reported that the local government had shut off 19 markets after many traders were tested positive for the novel coronavirus disease. Jakarta would also deploy the Military (TNI) and Police personnel to assist the monitoring of the implementation of the health protocols there.

The government would closely watch out the number of visitors in traditional markets in an effort to prevent the virus transmission, restore the operational hours as normally to disperse the people, and revoke the odd-even policy in markets.

“However, the number of visitors must not be over 50 percent of the total capacity,” the governor added.

During the extended transitional PSBB, the Jakarta government would also focus on decreasing the passenger density in the Commuter Line, such as by arranging the passenger flow which would be done together with the train operator PT KCI.

“Other areas are relatively under control, including office buildings, shopping buildings, up to mass transport such as MRT,” Anies Baswedan claimed.
