TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The Indonesian Ambassador to China Djauhari Oratmangun on Tuesday said that he had previously met with the China Gezhouba Group International Engineering Co Ltd deputy president, Hu Peng, in talks of future involvements in Indonesia’s future capital city development.

According to his written statement, the Chinese state-owned enterprise is interested in investing in the development of Indonesia’s new East Kalimantan capital city project, mainly in infrastructure and energy constructions.

Gezhouba Group is not a stranger in Indonesia, as it has been involved in 12 domestic development projects since 2006 that include the construction of power plants in North Sumatra, North Kalimantan, and West Kalimantan.

Prior to the ambassador’s meeting with Hu Peng, a meeting also took place between himself and delegates of the Chengdu City administration located in the Sichuan Province. The meeting discussed mainly increasing the bilateral economy and trade partnership post-COVID-19 which involves opening a direct commercial flight route between Indonesian and Chengdu.

“We also received cooperation proposals in intelligent transportation systems for Indonesia’s infrastructure development and telecommunication’s battery energy storage,” said the Indonesian Ambassador to China.
