TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The Head of the National Disaster Mitigation Agency (BNPB), Doni Monardo, who also spearheads the country’s COVID-19 Task Force, revealed that he and the task force team had not returned home for nine straight weeks ever since the task force was assembled.
“We at the central task force team are entering our ninth week at the office, we sleep at the office to prove our seriousness in breaking the chain of COVID-19 transmission,” said Doni Monardo following a virtual meeting with President Jokowi on Monday.
Doni said that he celebrated his 57th birthday on Sunday at the BNPB headquarters. The reason behind their dedication, he says, is to support the national coordination and prevent the possibility of infecting family members at home.
For this reason, Doni encouraged people to be disciplined and fully aware of the national health protocols. “Once again, there must be no ‘mudik’ (homecoming). Period. If you care for your family, do not travel to your hometown,” said Doni Monardo.
