TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - As a result of the enforcement of the national mudik ban, the police force has intercepted a number of vehicles passing through the Jakarta-Cikampek Toll Road blockade, on early Friday morning, April 24, 2020.

“From 00:00 until 05:00 WIB (local time), a total of 1,181 vehicles from two blockades were told to turn around,” said Director of the Jakarta Metropolitan Police Traffic unit, Senior Commissioner Sambodo Purnomo Yogo, in Jakarta.

Sambodo revealed that the two blockades were located in Bitung heading towards Merak and West Cikarang heading to Cikampek, with 498 vehicles in the former and 683 vehicles in the latter were told to turn around as part of the 2020 ‘Ketupat Jaya’ operation.

“This has been done starting (Friday) at 00:00," said the police.

In addition, Samboddo stated that vehicles heading towards Cikampek have been observed to still be congested. “At the main Cikarang toll gate, there were 25,000 vehicles on April 23, and 27,000 vehicles early this morning leaving Jakarta,” he added.
