TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Soekarno-Hatta International Airport (CGK) executive general manager, Agus Haryadi, assures that the airport will no longer serve commercial flights after the government announced a mudik ban which takes effect on Friday, April 24.

“We only serve cargo planes and special flights that are overseen by Transportation Ministry’s regulation No.25/2020,” said Agus on Friday.

Agus explained that people who have purchased airfares can report to air carriers or travel agents to cancel their plans or reschedule their flights.

The Transportation Ministry previously announced a mudik, or homecoming, ban which affects every commercial plane and chartered planes up until June 1, 2020.

“It could be extended according to the development in the field,” said Novie Riyanto, Transportation Ministry’s air transportation director-general on Thursday.

Novie assures that airports and navigation rooms will continue to operate for five types of transportation excluded from the mudik ban, with one of them being the operations of cargo planes that carry payloads related to healthcare support items.
