TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The police shot dead one of the four perpetrators of a minimarket robbery in the Duren Sawit area, East Jakarta, on Thursday morning, April 16. “One (perpetrator) was shot when he was caught by the police," said Chief of the Duren Sawit Alfamart, Ryan, in Jakarta.

The perpetrators managed to break into the minimarket, located on Jalan Masjid Al Wustho, through the rolling doors.

The criminals, Ryan continued, carried off cash in the safe as well as a number of products. "They took the cash in the safe (worth) around Rp50 million and several cartons of cigarette," he said.

Other witnesses in the location explained that the perpetrators were caught in the act by police on patrol. One of them was shot dead, two were captured alive and one escaped. "The one who escaped was the one who used the car," said one of the minimarket employees.

At present, officers from the Duren Sawit Police Station have set up a police line at the scene in order to commence an investigation.
