TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - To maximize the enactment of the Large Scale Social Restriction (PSBB) policy in Bogor, Depok, Bekasi and Tangerang, on Wednesday, April 15, 2020, the police is set to monitor 125 checkpoints along Jakarta’s borders to its satellite cities.
"Starting today, officers have begun monitoring at these points," said Jakarta Metropolitan Police (Polda Metro Jaya) Traffic Director, Commissioner Sambodo Purnomo Yogo, when confirmed on Wednesday morning.
The 125 checkpoints are situated in these following places:
1. South Tangerang: 26 checkpoints
2. Tangerang City: 23 checkpoints
3. Bekasi City: 34 checkpoints
4. Bekasi Regency: 20 checkpoints
5. Depok: 20 checkpoints
6. Tanjung Priok: 1 checkpoint
7. Soekarno Hatta Airport: 1 checkpoint
8. Jakarta: 33 checkpoints
Sambodo explained that measures will be taken against residents found in violation of the PSBB, as according to the applicable regulations.
These measures would include asking the driver to turn the vehicle around, if the number of passengers does not comply with the social distancing rules. "We will prioritize education and appeals to people who violate," Sambodo added.
During the enactment of the PSBB, a number of restrictions are in place, such as the prohibition to gather in crowds of more than five people, riding together on a motorcycle, as well as the stipulation to wear face masks when using public transport.
In addition, to curb the COVID-19 outbreak, schools and offices have also been stipulated to discontinue their operations.
