TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Officers of the National Military (TNI) and the Indonesian Police Force (Polri) in the Thousand Islands joint unit have penalized teens in violation of the Jakarta Large Scale Restriction (PSBB) with push ups.
Chief of the Untung Jawa Village Public Order Agency, Basahir, explained that the push up penalty was sanctioned during a night patrol in the residential area.
"Officers punished teenagers who gathered and did not wear masks with the penalty of push ups," Basahir said.
Officers of the joint unit continue to routinely warn residents not to leave their homes, when there is no urgency. Untung Jawa Island Village Chief, Supriyadi, hopes that residents will comply with the Jakarta PSBB.
"Residents must comply with the rules that are in place, in order to anticipate the spread of COVID-19," said Supriyadi.
The Thousand Islands Regency Government stated that residents hold a paramount role during the implementation of the PSBB, in order to curb the COVID-19 outbreak.
“Civil involvement (can) continue to keep the Thousand Islands region in the green zone,” added Chief of the Thousand Islands COVID-19 Task Force, Junaedi.
PSBB in Jakarta has entered its fifth day in implementation. The Jakarta Provincial Government has previously applied the PSBB starting from April 10; the policy will remain in effect until April 23, 2020.
